Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa found the back of the net but it was not enough as Napoli failed to capitalise in the Serie A title race following their 1-1 at Bologna on Monday night, Afrosport reports.
League leaders Inter Milan surrendered a two-goal lead against Parma on Sunday to draw 2-2 which presented the Partenopei the opportunity to go within a point of the Nerazzurri.
It looked they were going to take advantage of that opportunity, with Zambo Anguissa breaking the deadlock in the 18th minute a clinical finish.
It extended the Cameroon midfielder’s tally to six goals in the Serie A, coupled with three assists, making it the best goalscoring campaign of his career.
2 – Thanks to Frank Anguissa and Scott McTominay, Napoli are the only team with two central midfielders who have scored more than five goals in Serie A this season. Propulsion.#BolognaNapoli pic.twitter.com/2F82PioaZK

Napoli were in the lead until the 64th minute when Dan Ndoye equalised for Bologna.
Antonio Conte’s men are now three points behind Inter Milan with seven games left to end the season and will face Empoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona next Monday.
