The captain of the Sweden women’s team, Kosovare Asllani, said on Monday in a pre-match conference that her side will be relying on the huge gulf in experience when they face Spain in the semi-finals.
The 34-year-old AC Milan midfielder, who is playing in her third Women’s World Cup, believes the Blue and Yellows have garnered enough knowledge having progressed in the tournament over the years.
“Well, experience is really something that benefits us,’ Asllani said. “We have progressed far in the past few tournaments and we have that knowledge with us.
“I’m particularly pleased with how we’ve come this far, the way we have done it, the way we won our matches in different ways, and it shows the depth of this team.
“The matches always pan out differently and at the end, it’s the result that counts. So experience, as far as I’m concerned, could be a key tomorrow,” she concluded.

Spain, on the other hand, have never made it to this stage of the tournament, but despite that, La Roja have proven themselves to be a tough team to beat, having won four of their five games so far.
Asllani added that she and her teammates are ready for the match as they prepare to reach just their second final at the Mundial and their first in over 20 years since losing to Germany in 2003.
“Right now, as far as I’m concerned, we are just raring to go, and really looking forward to the game,” Asllani added.
“So as far as I am concerned, it is about spreading calm and enjoying the moment.”
The Peter Gerhardsson-led side will be up against Spain in a winner takes all semifinal clash at Eden Park on Tuesday, August 15, for a chance in the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
