Women’s Euro 2025: Agyemang scores again as England reach final

Michelle Agyemang was on target for the second game in a row at the 2025 Women’s European championship as England came back from behind to defeat Italy 2-1 after extra time in Tuesday’s semi-final, Afrosport reports.

The 19-year-old of Ghanaian heritage found the back of the net in quarter-final against Sweden, scoring the equaliser off the bench for 2-2 which forced extra time and an ultimate 3-2 victory in the penalty shootout.

The Arsenal forward was at it again against the Azzurre in Geneva, coming on for Leah Williamson in the 85th minute and netting deep in added time, canceling the lead the Italians had since the 33rd minute when Barbara Bonansea scored.

It was Agyemang’s third international goal in just her fourth cap for the Lionesses, all of them coming off the bench this year.

England were presented with a golden chance to win the game in extra time after Italy’s Emma Severini brought down Beth Mead inside the box and a penalty was awarded.

Arsenal forward Chloe Kelly was given the responsibility to take the spot kick and though it was initially kept out by goalkeeper Laura Giuliani, Kelly was there to tap in the rebound to make it to a second consecutive Women’s Euro final for England and a third straight final in a major tournament after reaching the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Sarina Wiegman’s ladies will face either Spain or Germany in Basel on Sunday for a chance to defend the title they won at Wembley three years ago.
