Brentford manager Thomas Frank has declared that Yoane Wissa is not for sale amid speculation linking him with a move away from the club, Afrosport reports.
The DR Congo international has had a good season so far with 11 goals in 19 Premier League games. This has led to rumours of the former Lorient player being linked to a number of clubs, notably Nottingham Forest and Arsenal.
Frank has however dismissed those claims, insisting there is no basis for selling the 28-year-old.
“It’s good with all these rumours, I love the transfer window,” he said.
“There’s a lot of rumours, for me again, he’s a Brentford player and in my opinion Wissa is not for sale, he’s been our leading number nine, he’s been fantastic. I cannot see why we should sell him.”
Meanwhile, Brentford completed the loan signing of Michael Kayode until the end of the season with the option to buy.
Frank is delighted to have the 20-year-old for his versatility and other attributes. He will however not be available for Sunday’s game away at Crystal Palace.
“Really like him, very happy that we managed to sign him to give us more depth in the full-back positions. I think he’s very talented, fantastic physical package,” the Danish tactician stated.
“Good abilities to keep going forward. Very good defensively. Of course, young and needs to be developed. He hasn’t played much this season but last season he more or less played a full season at Fiorentina.
“A very good signing I think. He will not be able to get that [international clearance] before Sunday.”
