Reigning US Open champion Coco Gauff eased into the third round of Wimbledon on Wednesday after a 6-2, 6-1 dominant performance against Romania’s Anca Todoni, who entered the competition via the qualifiers.
The 20-year-old saw off world no. 142 in just one hour and six minutes on a closed Court One to seal a strong win in the second round of Wimbledon.
“Overall, I just learned about life a lot. I guess you do as you get older,” the American, who was knocked out in the first-round last year said.
“I realised what I do, yes I’m passionate about, but it’s not that serious and sometimes the world can make you feel like there’s so much pressure, so much expectation.
“At the end of the day, it’s a game, it’s a sport and I’m very privileged to be playing out here, she added.

Todoni, 19, who sealed her first victory in a Grand Slam after beating fellow qualifier Olga Danilovic of Serbia, couldn’t muster a performance to upset Gauff, who looked very comfortable throughout the contest.
Gauff will face British qualifier Sonay Kartal in the third round on Friday, after the latter defeated Frenchwoman Clara Burel 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 after three sets to become the first British ladies’ qualifier to reach the third round since 1997.
