WAFCON 2024 Qualifiers: Super Falcons edge closer with comfortable victory over Cape Verde

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face West African rivals Ghana in a friendly match in Morocco as part of preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Afrosport reports.

The nine-time African champions will initially take on Portugal in a friendly in the European nation on 23 June.

Head coach Justine Madugu, meanwhile, has confirmed a friendly against the Black Princesses of Ghana just days before the commencement of the WAFCON.

The Black Princesses, who released a provisional 24-player squad earlier in the week, have set up camp in Benslimane, Morocco, for their final preparations.

The Super Falcons, however, will first camp in Portugal before heading to Morocco for the 2024 WAFCON, which will take place between 5-26 July 2025.

Madugu’s side are drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria. They will battle Tunisia in their opening match scheduled for 6 July at the iconic Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.

Ghana, on the other hand, have been drawn in Group C with holders Banyana Banyana of South Africa, Mali and Tanzania.
