WAFCON 2024 Qualifiers: Zambia trash Angola to reach finals

Zambia booked their place at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals after defeating Angola 6-0 in the second leg of the last qualifying round and 12-0 on aggregate.

The Copper Queens won the first leg by the same 6-0 scoreline away and started the return leg in ruthless fashion with Racheal Kundananji sending in an easy header in the fifth minute before Barbra Banda doubled it nine minutes later.

Zambia took a 2-0 lead into the break and came out in the second half all guns blazing with Susan Banda netting the third goal at the restart. Avell Chitundu added the fourth in the 71st minute followed by Esther Banda five minutes later and Kundananji completing her brace and the scoring in the 87th minute.

The Zambian ladies will be heading to their fourth WAFCON tournament and will be aiming to do better than their third place finish at the 2022 edition in Morocco.
