WAFCON 2024 Qualifiers: Oshoala, Ajibade invited for Nigeria’s clash against Sao Tome and Principe

Women’s World Cup: Nigeria beat Australia to go top of Group B

Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala, Atletico Madrid’s Rasheedat Ajibade and captain Onome Ebi are among the 24 players called up for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe on September 22.

The Super Falcons will begin their qualification campaign for a place in Morocco at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos next Friday before visiting Sao Tome and Principe for the return fixture on Tuesday, September 26.

While talks are ongoing for Randy Waldrum’s contract extension, the Super Falcons’ squad is dominated by players who featured in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and a number of players from the Nigeria Women Football League.

Victory against Sao Tome and Principe in the two-legged encounter would see Nigeria face either Cape Verde or Liberia in the second round later in November.
