Tabitha Chawinga was on target as Olympique Lyon defeated Bayern Munich away from home in the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday night, Afrosport reports.
The Malawi star set things off at FC Bayern Campus when she profited from defender Linda Sembrant’s mistake to strike the ball into the right corner of the net.
It was the first goal for Chawinga in the Champions League for Lyon since completing her transfer from French rivals Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

Lindsey Heaps had the opportunity to increase Lyon’s lead from the penalty spot in added time but her effort was stopped by Lyon goalkeeper Mala Grohs.
The American midfielder however turned provider for Daelle Melchie Dumornay in the 65th minute to make it 2-0.
Lyon will look to make their advantage count in the return leg at the Groupama Stadium next Wednesday while for Bayern, it brought to an end their 11-game unbeaten run at home.
