Head coach Justine Madugu on Friday released a 24-player squad to represent Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) next month, Afrosport reports.
The Super Falcons are one of 12 teams competing at the 13th edition of the WAFCON, set to take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26.
Madugu’s list consists of three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders, and eight forwards and sees the return of six-time African Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala.
The squad, which also has three home-based call-ups and 11 players hoping to make their tournament debut for Nigeria, has regulars like goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Osinachi Ohale and Michelle Alozie, midfielders Rasheedat Ajibade and Deborah Abiodun, and forwards Francisca Ordega and Omorinsola Babajide.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), most of the invited players trained in the nation’s Federal Capital in Abuja on Thursday and will also engage in practice sessions on Friday and Saturday before jetting out to Portugal on Sunday morning for their final training camp.
The Super Falcons, drawn in Group B, will begin their quest to win a record-extending 10th WAFCON title when they take on Tunisia on July 6, followed by Botswana on July 10 and Algeria on July 13.
They, however, will play two international friendly matches against Portugal on Monday, 23 June, and Ghana on Sunday, 29 June, before the commencement of the tournament.
