Ghana head coach Otto Addo has blamed a lack of maturity from his players for the defeat to rivals Nigeria in the Unity Cup 2025 semi-final in London on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
The Black Stars grew in the closing stages of the game when Brandon Thomas-Asante pulled a goal back from 2-0 down.
The Ghanaians had multiple chances to level for 2-2 but were denied by brilliant goalkeeping from Super Eagles number one Stanley Nwabali.
Reflecting on the result, Addo said: “It’s not always easy, especially when we have players who haven’t played together often.”
“Nigeria has a more mature team that adapted quicker. We struggled to press, engage in duels, and maintain our defensive structure.”

It marks the second consecutive defeat Ghana have suffered against Nigeria under Addo after losing by the same 2-1 scoreline in a friendly in Marrakesh last March.
The four-time African champions will face Trinidad and Tobago in the third/fourth place playoff at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
