Cyriel Dessers has set a target of playing in bigger tournaments for the Super Eagles after starring in the victory over Ghana in the Unity Cup 2025 semi-finals on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
The Rangers forward put Nigeria in front in the 14th minute after connecting with a brilliant cross from Remo Stars right-back Ismaila Sodiq.
A Razak Thompson own goal made it 2-0 before Brandon Thomas-Asante halved the deficit in the closing stages of the game.
It was Dessers’ third goal in his seventh international cap. All his appearances have come in friendlies, and he is now looking forward to playing in major tournaments like the Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup.
“Obviously, when you get the call, you want to go. I’ve already had a few beautiful moments with the national team, but I hope to add more. I hope to play in big tournaments,” Dessers said.
“It would be a dream—almost like the perfect way to complete my career—if I could go to a major tournament with Nigeria, with the Super Eagles, and hopefully win something there.”
