UEL Final: Bruno Fernandes confident Man United can beat Spurs despite poor record

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is confident the Red Devils can overcome Tottenham Hotspur in next week’s UEFA Europa League final despite their poor record against the North London outfit this season, Afrosport reports.

United have faced Spurs three times in all competitions, losing all of them. They lost 3-0 in their first league meeting at Old Trafford before losing 4-3 in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

Ruben Amorim’s team were then beaten 1-0 in the corresponding league fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“A very aggressive team on the front foot. They press very well, they defend with a high line where they’re very well organised in that,” Fernandes said.

“They have players on the ball, quality-wise, very good, but we will study, we already know many of their threats.

“But more than that, we need to focus on what we need to do to not give any chances away for them and create a lot of chances for ourselves to score goals and win that game.”

Man United currently sit in 16th place on the Premier League table, one place and point ahead of Spurs.

The Red Devils will face former title rivals Chelsea on Friday night before jetting off to Bilbao for the Europa League final while Tottenham will face Champions League qualification hopefuls Aston Villa also on Friday night.
