Nigerian defender, Igoh Ogbu has been ruled out of Slavia Prague’s trip to Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
The 25-year-old has been impacted by injuries this season, featuring just four times in all competitions, with his last appearance coming in the Czech First League tie away at Mlada Boleslav on August 30.
Ogbu has been capped thrice for the Super Eagles, making his debut against Ghana in the Unity Cup 2025 semi-final in May, also featuring in the final against Jamaica.
He also played in the friendly with Russia in Moscow, and remains uncertain if he will be fit enough to be selected for Nigeria’s final two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s game, Slavia Prague’s head coach, Jindrich Trpisovsky said: “All those who are healthy and on the roster for the Champions League are going.
“We will definitely miss [Igoh] Ogbu and Holes [Tomas], which is a big hit, but young boys like Tomas Vlcek, David Zima, and Stephan Chaloupek show that they are proficient representatives of these leaders and should replace them well.
“We’ve been through a virus that should be behind us by now. We believe that it will not affect anyone anymore.”
