Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman etched his name in the history books at Atalanta with his performance in the 3-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk in matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old scored a goal and provided an assist as Atalanta recorded their first Champions League win of the season following a goalless draw against Arsenal in their previous match.
Following his performance, Lookman became the second player in Atalanta’s history to score and assist in the same match in the Champions League, joining Colombian forward Duvan Zapata, who achieved the feat twice.

Lookman provided an assist for Berat Djimsiti to open the scoring in the 21st minute before the Nigerian also found the back of the net in the 44th minute just before the halftime break.
The 26-year-old was also instrumental in the buildup play as Raoul Bellanova made it three just after the break in the 48th minute to complete the comfortable victory for the Nerazzurri.
The Nigerian forward was replaced by Mateo Retegui in the 60th minute as the Italians remained in control by limiting Shakhtar to no shots on target throughout the match.
The Ballon d’Or nominee has been in excellent form this season for the defending Europa League champions with his third goal in six appearances.
