Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has conceded that his team are not the same level with Paris Saint-Germain after Wednesday’s 2-1 UEFA Champions League loss at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, Afrosport reports.
The Catalan giants took the lead through Ferran Torres but were pegged back by the reigning European champions via Senny Mayulu and Goncalo Ramos.
It was the first loss for Barcelona in all competitions this season and Flick believes his team need to work hard to be on PSG’s level.
“You can see it that we were not at the same level, but I tink I believe in my team and it wasn’t our best day. We are working to reach again this level and that’s football,” the German said.
“We lost this match, but we want to come back. We must work and train but are not making that so well and we will do that.”
Meanwhile, PSG boss, Luis Enrique, who previously managed Barcelona, had a different view from Flick and sees them as title contenders for this season’s Champions League.
“For me they are clearly among the candidates to win the title this year. They play an amazing football, and they have a very high level of football,” the Spaniard stated.
“This is just the start of the competition, and we still have six more matches to play to see which teams qualify and where. I don’t have doubts that both Barcelona and us… I like the way Barcelona is playing.
“I believe not so many teams have that clear idea to play football like us. There are also a few more teams that I won’t be mentioning here but I think both Barcelona and us we are candidates to win the trophy.
“The real competition starts in the knockout stages and we will see how we get each team.”
Tough result, but heads up, lads — we keep pushing. 👊 pic.twitter.com/uJqfjBkHJN

Barcelona last won the Champions League a decade ago under the watch of Enrique and reached the semi-finals last season but narrowly lost 7-6 on aggregate to eventual runners-up Inter Milan.
