Paris Saint-Germain claimed a statement 2–1 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Wednesday night, Afrosport reports.
Both sides were without some of their big players, with PSG missing Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, while Barcelona were forced to make do without Raphinha, Fermin Lopez and Gavi. Despite the absentees, the game quickly sparked into life.
Barcelona struck first in the 19th minute when Ferran Torres slid home Marcus Rashford’s clever pass after a solid team move.
PSG, though, grew into the match and levelled before the break. Nuno Mendes embarked on a dazzling solo run before passing the ball to 19-year-old Senny Mayulu, who coolly found the bottom corner to silence the home crowd.
The visitors piled on the pressure after the interval and Bradley Barcola wasted a gloriou, while Lee Kang-in rattled the post. Barcelona also had their moments, but Lucas Chevalier and Achraf Hakimi combined to deny them a second.
Just as the game looked destined for a draw, substitute Goncalo Ramos stepped up in the 90th minute, slotting past Wojciech Szczesny to seal a dramatic win.
