Inter Milan played out a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday night which was enough to reach the semis, Afrosport reports.
The Nerazzurri defeated the Bavarian giants 2-1 in the first leg in Munich courtesy of a late Davide Frattesi goal, but fell behind at the San Siro when Tottenham Hotspur all-time top scorer Harry Kane scored in the 52nd minute to level the tie on aggregate.
It however did not take too long for Simone Inzaghi’s side to respond, which they did thanks to Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard in the 58th and 61st minute respectively.
Bayern leveled the game through another former Tottenham player in Eric Dier but it was not enough as Inter triumphed 4-3 on aggregate.
Inter will be making another semi-final appearance having done so during the 2022-23 season when they reached final but lost to Manchester City.
2 – Simone Inzaghi is only one of two managers in Inter’s history to have reached the semi-final in at least two different seasons in European Cup/Champions League, after Helenio Herrera (four in a row between 1963-64 and 1966-67). Route.#InterBayern #UCL pic.twitter.com/b7GjtyWgw3
