Morocco U-23 manager Issame Charai says he was surprised by the performance of his players as they whopped Ghana 5-1 in their 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations Group A encounter on Tuesday.
Goals from Amir Richardson, Ismael Saibari, Abde Ezzalzouli and Yanis Begraoui (brace) was more than enough to get the job done and seal their spot in the semi-finals.
Charai stated that even though he was amazed what his players put in at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, he always had faith in them.
“I have unwavering faith in the abilities of my players, but they exceeded my expectations and pleasantly surprised me,” he said.

Charai revealed he would make alterations to his lineup in the final group game against Congo on Friday and has called on the support of the fans once again.
“As we approach the last group stage match, we will make strategic changes to provide rest for some players,” he stated.
“Additionally, we will explore alternative game systems to evaluate their effectiveness.
“I had requested unwavering support from the fans, and they delivered. Their presence and enthusiasm were truly remarkable.”
The other Group A game between Congo and Guinea ended in a 3-1 victory for the latter, with the former ending the game with 10 men.
