U20 AFCON: Flying Eagles thrash U-23 team in friendly match

U20 AFCON: Nigeria defeat Congo Brazzaville in friendly match

Nigeria U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, wrapped up their preparations for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations with a comfortable 6-1 defeat of the U-23 side of Moroccan club Kawkab Athletics Marrakech at the Complexe Sportif Sidi Mohammed in Casablanca on Wednesday.

The young Eagles were initially scheduled to play against the Central African Republic, but the tie was cancelled late Tuesday.

However, Ladan Bosso’ boys did not let the emergency change deter their best, as five first-half goals put them comfortably ahead.

A first-minute goal from Aminu Mohammed, and four others from Ibrahim Muhammad, Samson Lawal, Emmanuel Uchegbu and Augustine Njoku put the Flying Eagles in control.

Although Kawkab Athletic drew one back nine minutes before the halftime break, Nicholas Jonathan restored the five-goal difference in the 69th minute.

The Flying Eagles will leave Morocco for Egypt on Thursday at 9am, and they are set to take on Senegal’s Young Lions of Teranga at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, February 19 to kickstart their U-20 AFCON campaign.
