The Young Teranga Lions of Senegal made it two wins from as many games in Group D of the ongoing under-17 FIFA World Cup as they defeated Poland 4-1 on Tuesday.
Idrissa Gueye scored a hat-trick to lead his side to victory at the Jalak Harupat Stadium in Indonesia, helping the West Africans maintain their top spot in the group and edge closer to a place in the round of 16.

The Senegalese No. 19 opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a near-post poke after a sweeping low cross from Yaya Dieme, beating Michal Matys in goal for the Europeans.
Pape Daouda Diongu almost doubled Senegal’s lead in the 26th minute, but his curling effort from outside the box struck the crossbar. However, they eventually got their second goal of the game through an unfortunate own goal from Dominik Szala at the 30th minute mark.
Gueye got his second goal of the game in the 52nd minute in an almost identical fashion to his opener, but this time, the ball came in from the left through full-back Alpha Toure.
Poland drew one back via a deflected effort from Marcel Regula in the 66th minute, but Senegal soon restored their three-goal lead three minutes later through a glancing header from Gueye, who sent in Ibrahima Diallo’s well-taken cross.
The 17-year-old hat-trick hero opened his account in the Mundial in stunning fashion and starred for the Young Teranga Lions, who will face Japan next Friday, November 17.
Poland, on the other hand, remain without a point on board after two matches and face elimination from the tournament, but they will have a chance to redeem themselves when they lock horns with Ecuador this Friday.
