Somalia U-17 head coach Nur Mohamed Amin is not pleased even after his team recorded a historic 1-1 draw with Congo on Tuesday at the ongoing U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The East African nation are making their debut in a CAF-organised competition for the very time and made history when Dini Mohamed Dahir scored the country’s first-ever goal in the 32nd minute before the Congolese replied back in the second half via Ayel Nzouzi.
Despite the milestone, Amin asserted that Somalia’s objective is to win the competition and is hopeful of victory against Senegal in their final Group A game.
“We played a very competitive match and we had a good performance. The draw does not reflect the match on the pitch. But we have come out with good experience from this game,” Amin said on the CAF website.
“We came to Algeria to try and win the tournament. That remains our goal and we will try to correct it in the next match.
“We fell into a difficult group and Senegal will be another tough game. But we hope to win.”
