Transfer Deadline Day: Moroccan midfielder Amrabat happy with Man Utd move

Manchester United have announced the loan signing of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina and the Moroccan midfielder has revealed his excitement at completing the move.

The 27-year-old finally gets his move to Old Trafford after turning down numerous bids from other clubs across Europe this summer.

The Red Devils will pay an initial loan fee of €10 million with a buyout clause also included in the deal.

“It is a huge honour to become a Manchester United player,” the Atlas Lions midfielder said. I’ve had to be patient for this moment but I’m someone who always listens to my heart and now I am representing the club of my dreams.

“I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team.

Amrabat will reunite with Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag at United and the former Utrecht midfielder is delighted to be back under the tutelage of his former boss.

“I know exactly how Erik ten Hag likes to work and what he needs from his players,” he added.

“His coaching and guidance developed me so much as a player earlier in my career

“I know that he will help to bring out the best of my abilities so that I can help the group to be successful this season,” Amrabat said.

Amrabat, who shone for Morocco at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, was instrumental to Fiorentina’s success last season and his move to United his subject to international clearance and registration requirements.

He becomes Ten Hag’s sixth signing of the summer window and the third player they have signed on the transfer deadline day along with Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and Spanish fullback Sergio Reguilon.
