Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a serious injury that will potentially keep him out of action for the remainder of the year, Afrosport reports.
Ndah, who plays his club football in South Africa with Orlando Pirates, has reportedly sustained a tibia fracture, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) club announced on Wednesday.
A statement of Pirates website read: “The Bucs medical department has confirmed that the 26-year-old [Olisa Ndah] has suffered a tibia fracture.
“Due to the location and nature of the injury; the decision on surgery is not straightforward but based on this type of injury, Ndah has been ruled out for the rest of the year.
Ndah picked up the injury during Pirates’ league clash against Polokwane City last month, which forced him to miss their MTN8 final victory against Stellenbosch at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
He has played nine times in all competitions this season for the Buccanneers, scoring once and leading the defence to six clean sheets.
The former Akwa United defender also missed Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya, having previously made the team in the September international break.
Pirates will host newly promoted club Magesi FC at the Orlando stadium on Saturday, October 19, in their Carling Black Label Cup opener, before taking on SuperSport United in the PSL three days later.
