Raphinha was the difference once again as he scored the winner in an emphatic 3-2 win over Real Madrid to help Barcelona to their 16th Spanish Super Cup title, Afrosport reports.
The Brazilian foward was in blistering form in the semi-finals against Athletic Bilbao, scoring two goals and providing an assist in the 5-0 win.
In Sunday’s El Clasico final in Jeddah, the former Leeds United man put the Blaugrana ahead in the 36th minute off an assist from Fermin Lopez.
Added time of the first half produced three goals, first Gonzalo Gracia setting up Vinicius Jnr. for the equaliser before veteran Polish forward Robert Lewandowski made it 2-1 to Barca. It was however a short-lived lead as Gracia made it 2-2.
The second half remained open until the 73rd minute when Raphinha’s shot took a deflection off Raul Asencio on its way into the net.
The final minutes were nervy and Hansi Flick’s men were reduced to 10 men after Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong was shown a red card for a rash challenge on Kylian Mbappe in added time.
