Nottingham Forest have announced the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager following the dismissal of Steve Cooper on Tuesday.
The Welsh man was relieved of his duties after two years at the City Ground, leading them to Premier League promotion last year after a 23-year absence.
Forest have however lost five of their past six league games and sit 17th in the table, five points off the relegation zone.
“Nottingham Forest can today confirm the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as first team head coach,” read a statement on the club website.
The Sao Tome and Principe-born Portuguese manger was previously in charge of Saudi Pro-League club Al-Ittihad but was sacked in November after a string of poor results.

Espirito Santo was previously in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Al-Ittihad where he led them to the title last season.
The 49-year-old’s first match as Forest manager will be a Premier League home tie against Bournemouth on Saturday.
