Nigeria men’s national rugby team will begin their qualification campaign for the Paris 2024 Olympics with a Pool A pre-qualifier against Ghana in Mauritius next month.
The Black Stallions will hope to finish in the top three of the pre-qualifiers which holds on June 24 and 25 and move on to the next phase at the Africa Cup Sevens in Zimbabwe. They will also tackle Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo in pool A.
Nigeria began preparationa for the Olympics qualifiers last month and most of the selected players will be expected to train in a closed camp before travelling to Mauritius and the team will be led by newly-appointed coach Steve Lewis
Other countries taking part in the pre-qualifier include Mauritius, Cote d’Ivoire, Botswana, Cameroon, Algeria, Lesotho, Senegal and Egypt.
The competition will also serve as qualification for the Africa Cup Sevens that will take place in September, with four tickets at stake.
