Red-hot Guinean forward Guirassy leads Europe’s goalscoring chart

VfB Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy has announced his presence on the world stage, as he currently leads the scoring chart across Europe for the ongoing 2023-24 season.

The Guinea international striker has found the back of the net 14 times in eight Bundesliga matches this season, overshadowing the likes of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane on 12 goals and Manchester City’s goalscoring machine, Erling Haaland, whose brace at the weekend took his season tally to 11 goals in the Premier League.

Guirassy, who permanently joined Stuttgart this May having initially been on loan from French side Rennes, has scored a hat-trick twice already this season, against Mainz and Wolfsburg, and has hit a brace on three separate occasions in the league.

The French-born forward opened his season’s account with a brace against VfL Bochum back in August before scoring the lone goal in their 5-1 defeat in the hands of RB Leipzig.

He opened September with a brace against SC Freiburg and scored his first hat-trick against Mainz in a 3-1 win, before scoring another brace against Darmstadt in a similar result just six days later.

Guirassy blanked in their 2-0 against his former side Cologne but bounced back with a trio of goals against Wolfsburg and one sublime finish away at Union Berlin to help his side to six consecutive victories.

The 27-year-old was absent in their weekend 3-2 home loss to Hoffenheim due to a harmstring injury, but his goals this season have helped them to third in the league standings, a big contrast from the 16th position they ended in last season.

Guirassy won the Bundesliga Player of the Month award for September and he has scored 15 goals and provided two assists in nine matches this season, and he is expected to continue firing on all cylinders if they are to have any chance of securing a berth in any of the continental competitions for next season.
