The 2023 Red Bull Half Court regional qualifiers are in full swing with Team Titans and the Wildcats ready to represent the Abuja region while the Orange Room and the Brave Heart from Owerri region booking their spots in the national finals.
The Abuja qualifiers of the 3-on-3 basketball tournament were held on May 13 at the court of Nile University and saw 31 teams play their way to the top out of 80 registered teams with Team Titans and Wildcats emerging as the top two teams.
Team Titans clinched the national final berth after defeating the Villager Buzzer Drones 11-9 while the Wildcats needed extra play to see off Special Ops 9-7.
In the Owerri qualifiers, 38 registered teams were down to 16 at the Kelechi Anuna Foundation court of the Dan Anyiam Stadium last weekend. The Orange Room and Brave Heart were winners after their 7-3 and 16-13 victories over 3ple Sauft and 3 Kings respectively.
The Red Bull Half Court qualifiers will head to Ibadan this weekend with the University of Ibadan as the venue while the qualifiers for Lagos Mainland and Lagos Island will hold on June 3 and 4.
The national finals will take place at the end of June to decide the winners that would go alongside last year’s national champion, Nile University Spartans, to the world finals in Belgrade, Serbia in September.
