David Raya has agreed a new and improved contract with Arsenal, highlighting his growing importance under Mikel Arteta, Afrosport reports.
The Spanish goalkeeper has reportedly signed fresh terms that include a major pay rise on the deal he penned in 2024 after joining the club permanently from Brentford.
Although Arsenal are yet to make an official announcement, reports suggest the agreement was finalised earlier in the summer.
Raya first arrived at the Emirates on loan in 2023 and is believed to have been earning around £100,000 per week. His new contract keeps him at the club until 2028, with an option to extend further.
Since his move, the 30-year-old has become one of the Premier League’s standout goalkeepers, winning the Golden Glove in 2023–24 and sharing the award last season with Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels.
Raya has made 105 appearances for the Gunners, keeping 45 clean sheets, and has started nine of their 10 matches so far this campaign, registering six shut-outs.
He is currently with the Spain national team for this month’s World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria. Raya is expected to start between the sticks when Arsenal return to action at Fulham on 18 October.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also working to secure the futures of other key players, with new deals being discussed for Jurrien Timber and Bukayo Saka, while William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães have already committed to long-term extensions.
