Sergio Ramos set to leave Sevilla on a free transfer

Sergio Ramos has informed Sevilla FC that he will not continue with them next season, after fulfilling his dream of returning to his boyhood club.

The former Real Madrid defender joined the Andalusian outfit last summer on a one-year deal from Paris Saint-Germain and played 37 competitive games for Sevilla in the 2023/24 season and scored seven goals.

Through the club’s official website, Sevilla thanked Ramos for the commitment, leadership and maximum dedication he exhibited in the just concluded campaign, and wished him well in the next chapter of his career.

“Sergio Ramos has informed Sevilla FC that he will not stay next season after fulfiling his dream of returning to the club where he came through the academy before making his international debut. Ramos made 37 appearances this season, scoring on seven occasions,” read the statement.

“The club wishes to thank Sergio for the commitment, leadership and dedication that he has demonstrated this season, and wishes him the best for future.”


Ramos will officially communicate with the fans on Tuesday, where he is expected to say goodbye publicly in the press room of the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Born at the gates of Seville, former Spain International emerged through Sevilla’s youth academy and spent two seasons with the senior side, before moving to Real Madrid in the summer of 2005.

He went on to become a regular for Real, winning 22 major honours including five La Liga and four UEFA Champions League titles.

According to reports, Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs in the United States are interested  in his signing.
