Tottenham, Europa League champions, were making their competitive debut under new manager Thomas Frank and executed a clear game plan – sit deep, concede possession, and hit PSG on the counter.
The approach paid off in the 39th minute when Micky van de Ven reacted quickest after debutant goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier tipped a shot onto the crossbar, tapping in from close range.
PSG continued to dominate possession but were frustrated by Tottenham’s disciplined defensive shape, with the Premier League side taking a 1-0 lead into the break. Just three minutes after the restart, new Spurs captain Cristian Romero doubled the advantage with a low drive that Chevalier fumbled into his own net.
Luis Enrique turned to his bench, introducing Fabian Ruiz, Ibrahim Mbaye and Lee Kang-in, and PSG found a lifeline in the 85th minute when Kang-in rifled a strike into the bottom corner past Guglielmo Vicario.
Four minutes into stoppage time, PSG struck again through substitute Goncalo Ramos, who headed in Ousmane Dembele’s cross and level the tie at 2-2.
The game headed straight for penalties and Dominic Solanke scored first for Spurs before Vitinha dragged his effort wide for PSG despite sending Vicario the wrong way. Rodrigo Bentancur and Ramos both converted to make it 2-1, but Chevalier’s save from van de Ven’s penalty swung the momentum back in PSG’s favour.

Rodrigo Bentacur and Ramos both hit the target to keep the scores a 2-1, but PSG were handed a lifeline when Chavelier saved Van de Ven’s kick. Dembele stepped up to put tie the scores and Kang-in gave his side the lead after Mathys Tel had missed his own spot-kick.
Dembele equalised, and Kang-in put PSG ahead after Mathys Tel his spot-kick. Pedro Porro briefly kept Tottenham alive, but Nuno Mendes stepped up to fire home the decisive spot-kick, sealing PSG’s fifth trophy of the season.
