Partey ready to play in any position for Arsenal

Van Dijk feared Liverpool draw with Man United could have been worse

Thomas Partey says he is ready to play in any position for Arsenal in a bid to help the team, Afrosport reports.

The Ghanaian midfielder started Saturday’s 1-1 at Brighton & Hove Albion at right-back, filling in for the suspended Jurien Timber.

It is not the first time Partey has played in that position and is ready to improve even further.

“I’m a professional and I’ll play everywhere to help the team. I’m available to play in any position, I’ll do my best and also give my best all the time,” the former Atletico Madrid man told the club website.

“If I can do much better and improve, I can be happy. It’s moments that the team need me and I have to be there and I’m really happy to help the team all the time.”

Partey also praised Ethan Nwaneri who scored his second goal Premier League goal in what was his second league start in the absence of injured Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling.

The 17-year-old became the sixth player after Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Danny Cadamarteri, James Milner and Federico Macheda to score more than one Premier League goal before turning 18.

“He’s a very good player and we know the qualities he has,” he added.

“He’s working a lot and he’s improving. I’m really happy for him today for scoring. It could have been better if we’d have won today but we could not get the win. He needs to keep improving and all the best to him.”

Arsenal are six points behind Liverpool in the league standings and will next face rivals Manchester United at home in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
