Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen will have to wait to make his second appearance for his new club Galatasaray following his debut with the Turkish Super Lig club last weekend.
The 25-year-old Napoli loanee has been ruled out of Galatasaray’s clash against Gaziantep FK on Tuesday owing to ineligibility reasons, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) confirmed.
Osimhen, who joined the Turkish side this month after a transfer scuffle with Serie A club Napoli, is not eligible to play for Galatasaray as the said game is a rescheduled matchday three fixture.
According to the TFF, the Nigerian’s transfer hadn’t been completed as at the time match was initially supposed to take place as the game was originally postponed due to Galatasaray’s involvement in the UEFA Champions League playoffs against Swiss club Young Boys.
Osimhen, who recently scored for the Super Eagles in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic, provided an assist on his Galatasaray debut, a 5-0 win Rizespor on Saturday.
The former Wolfsburg and Lille forward will be unavailable for the game at Rams Park in Istanbul.

Galatasaray have maintained a perfect start to the season and they are currently second with 12 points from four matches. They sit behind Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, and a win against Gaziantep will take them to the top of the standings, two points above their archrivals.
Osimhen will be expected to make a return to the team on Saturday, September 21, when they visit the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium to take on Fenerbahce in the first Intercontinental Derby of the season.
