Osimhen scores in back-to-back games as Galatasaray maintain 100% Super Lig start

Victor Osimhen was on the scoresheet for the second game in a row as Galatasaray defeated Rizespor 3-1 to maintain their 100% start in the Turkish Super Lig, Afrosport reports.

The Super Eagles forward opened his season account after completing his permanent transfer from Napoli in last week’s 4-0 win at Kayserispor.

The 26-year-old scored the second goal of the game against Rizespor in the 65th minute with a powerful header after connecting with Abdulkerim Bardakci’s cross.

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez gave Gala the lead in the 20th minute while Rizespor’s Qazim Laci had a goal disallowed by VAR for offside in the 34th minute.

Their consolation goal came via Bosnian midfielder Dal Varesanovic eight minutes after Osimhen’s goal.

Former Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi put the game beyond doubt for Galatasaray in added time.

Osimhen will now turn his attention to the crunch 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa on September 6 and 9 respectively.
