Osimhen leaves Napoli future open amid Premier League links

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen says he will assess his future at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona at the end of the season.

The Nigeria international has been in scintillating form this term, netting 23 goals in 28 competitive appearances, the latest being a brace in the Partenopei’s comfortable 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Osimhen’s consistency has linked him with a number of Europe’s top clubs including Manchester United. The Red Devils are in need of a top forward in summer, with the club’s form improving by a great deal under Erik ten Hag this season.

“I don’t know what the future holds. I think I’m on the right track,” Osimhen told Sport1.

“At the end of the season, I will sit down with my agents and discuss everything.

“I will also be in talks with the club. I am incredibly grateful to Napoli. We will find a good solution together.”

Frankfurt captain Sebastian Rode described Osimhen as one of the best and strongest strikers in the world in the world at the moment and the 24-year-old agrees with the German midfielder.

“I’m just proud of the season I’m playing and the achievements of the club. I do believe that I’m currently one of the best strikers in the world,” Osimhen continued.

“It’s a great honor for me when my opponents praise me so much. I am grateful to everyone who believed in me. But I still have a lot of room for improvement. I can still improve on a few points.”

Osimhen was recently called-up to the Nigeria national team where he is expected to lead the frontline in the Super Eagles’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier doubleheader against Guinea-Bissau on March 24 and 27.
