Victor Osimhen has dedicated his brace in Galatasaray’s 3-2 Turkish Super Lig win over Samsunspor to his teammate Mauro Icardi, Afrosport reports.
The Super Eagles forward has built a strong relationship with the Argentine striker since joining on loan from Napoli at the end of the summer transfer window.
Icardi will however have a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery for an anterior cruciate ligament injury that could effectively rule the former Inter Milan star out for the rest of the season
“It was an important day for both this and Mauro. I dedicate my goals to them. He always showed me love while I was here. He treated me very well. He is also a very important figure for the team,” Osimhen told the club website.
“We know that he will come back very strong. We trust him very much. He is a very important leader for the team, a very important character. I dedicate my wins and my goals to him.”

Reflecting on the game, Osimhen said: “The match was very difficult. We got a very important victory. We played against an opponent who knows what they are doing. I have a lot of respect for them.
“They played very well. We saw why they are in these places. It was very important for us to go into the national break with a victory. Not just for the leadership. We will go to the national teams. It was a confidence boost for there too. When we return, we will try to win every match again. We have a team that is strong enough to win every match.
“I am very happy here. The fans are showing great love. They were extraordinary as well. I want to dedicate the victory to them as well. I thank them very much.”
Osimhen made it back-to-back braces after netting twice in Thursday’s 3-1 Europa League win over Tottenham Hotspur.
He now has six goals in as many Super Lig games and a total of eight in all competitions coupled with three assists.
