Osayi-Samuel: How Nigerian fullback reached new Fenerbahce milestone

Bright Osayi-Samuel was on the scoresheet as Fenerbahce recorded a 2-0 away win over Hatayspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.

The Istanbul giants suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Ankaraguru in the Turkish Cup in midweek but got back to winning ways, starting with Osayi-Samuel’s goal in the 25th minute when he connected with Edin Dzeko’s cross and tapped in from close range.

It was the Nigerian fullback’s third goal of the season and was a personal record for him in a Fenerbahce shirt as he surpassed his league tally from the past three seasons combined (2).

Osayi-Samuel however matched his goal involvement tally of four from the 2021-22 season (one goal, three assists).

His overall goal contribution for Fenerbahce in all competitions since his arrival from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 is six goals and 11 assists.

Cengiz Under scored Fenerbahce’s goal in the 40th minute.

Fener top the Turkish Super Lig table with 73 points, one point ahead of rivals Galatasaray who have a game in hand.
