Oparanozie: Falode, Enakhena, Ajunwa pay tribute to retiring Super Falcons star

Ladies in Sports bade farewell to Super Falcons forward Desire Oparanozie following her retirement from professional football.

The Ladies in Sports (LIS) ceremony, in partnership with Nike and Coca-Cola, took place in Ikeja and it had top sports personalities in the country in attendance.

Amongst the guests were chairman of Sporting Lagos FC, Godwin Enakhena, NFF’s Head of Women Football Committee, Aisha Falode, former Olympic Games gold medalist Chioma Ajunwa, Brand Manager, Nike, Bukola Fayemi, Marketing Manager,  Jenny Anusiem – CEO, Imo Angels, Super Eagles Media Officer, Babafemi Raji, Super Falcons Media Officer, Oluchi Tobex Tobe-Chukwu, CEO Lily Legends, Amarachi Lilian Eze.

Falode, in her remarks, commended Oparanozie for a career built on hard work and for setting a path as role model for young women who are aspiring to be professional footballers.

Oparanozie called time on her illustrious career in September at the age of 29. She was part of the Nigeria squad that won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018.

She started her professional career with stints at Bayelsa Queens and Delta Queens before moving to Europe to play in Turkey, Russia, Germany and France, before switching to Asia where she played in China.
