Rivers United closed in on Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) leaders Remo Stars after edging their top-of-the-table clash 1-0 in Port-Harcourt on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
Boluwaji David netted the vital winner in the 84th minute to help the Pride of Rivers remain in contention for the title with six games remaining.
Finidi George’s side have now amassed 55 points, five behind leaders Remo Stars.
Meanwhile, Enyimba came back from behind to beat oriental rivals Abia Warriors 2-1 in Aba, courtesy goals from Kalu Nweke and Joseph Atule.
Imama Amapakabo’s Warriors went ahead through Antoine Ijeoma in the 21st minute, but could not sustain the momentum in the derby .
In Ibadan, Ikorodu City forced Shooting Stars to a 0-0 draw, while in Lafia, Leonard Ugochukwu and Abubakar Garba lifted Nasarawa United above Akwa United with a 2-0 win and Kwara United forced Plateau United to a 0-0 draw in Jos.
In other games, Katsina United and Bayelsa United played out a 1-1 draw, Niger Tornadoes defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 2-0, just as Sunshine Stars earned a 1-1 draw at Lobi Stars.

On Saturday, Enugu Rangers earned a 0-0 draw at Bendel Insurance, while Heartland defeated Kano Pillars 2-0.
