Sporting Lagos have announced the appointment of Jeffery Buter as new head coach ahead of the 2025-26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, Afrosport reports
Buter steps into the role after previously serving as assistant coach under Shola Adegun, who recently departed to take up the head coach position at Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Plateau United.
The highly-rated tactician holds coaching licenses from both the English FA and Scottish FA, and is currently working towards his UEFA C License.
We have a new head coach!
Coach Jeff joined in 2023 as Academy assistant coach and played a key role in our 2024 Gothia Puma Trophy win. He stepped up to the first team last season as assistant coach and now takes the helm as Head Coach.

Sporting were relegated to the NNL in the 2023–24 season, just 11 months after gaining promotion. They lost on the final matchday and finished in 17th place in, with a low tally of 46 points.
Gearing up for the new NNL campaign, Sporting will be hoping that Buter’s appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter as they aim for promotion to the top flight.
