Nigeria’s Dessers focused on winning Scottish Cup with Rangers

Cyriel Dessers has his sights on winning the Scottish Cup with Rangers after leading them to the final.

The Nigerian forward scored a brace against Hearts on Sunday to secure a 2-0 win and set up an Old Firm Derby with fierce rivals Celtic next month.

Dessers has now scored 19 goals in all competitions and asserted he was not bothered so much about scoring goals but rather winning games.

“…When you reach a final with Rangers you are always happy. It wasn’t easy but we got the job done,” he told the club website.

“We know we have important weeks coming up and this was big for us.

“Making the final is huge, but this is only the beginning, we want to win the final now.

“Everyone wants to score a hat-trick and I had a good chance with my left foot but I opted to pass it instead.

“But to me it doesn’t matter who scores the goals, I just want to win games.”

Rangers manager Philippe Clement also commented on Dessers: “Cyriel is scoring his goals and is also becoming stronger. I think these six months playing here are the best six months he has had in his career now, so we are going to work hard with him now to make him better and better. I see more and more the things I want to see from a striker.”

The Gers will turn their attention next to the Scottish Premiership where they are three points behind leaders Celtic and travel to St. Mirren on Sunday.
