Nigeria has officially confirmed its participation in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, scheduled to take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from November 7 to 21, 2025, Afrosport reports.
The National Sports Commission (NSC), through its Director General, Bukola Olopade, reaffirmed the country’s readiness to take part in the prestigious multi-sport event. As part of Nigeria’s preparations, Olopade is currently attending a two-day strategic seminar in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he is serving as Chef de Mission for Team Nigeria.
The seminar brings together delegates from participating countries to review updated guidelines, competition protocols, and operational modules for the 2025 Games. Nigeria’s active involvement in this forum underscores its commitment to not only participate but to compete at the highest level.
Olopade’s attendance comes just days after he oversaw the successful conclusion of the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State, further signalling Nigeria’s dedication to nurturing athletic talent and international competition.
The Islamic Solidarity Games offer a vital platform for Nigeria to showcase its athletes, scout emerging talent, and contribute to the broader values of unity, diversity, and global cooperation among member nations of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Returning to Saudi Arabia for the first time in two decades, the 2025 edition promises to be historic, with participation from athletes representing 57 member countries. Nigeria’s inclusion reinforces its standing in international sports and highlights its continued investment in youth and talent development.
