Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has sent an apology to his fans after he suffered a knock-out loss to Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight boxing fight.
Joshua floored the Cameroonian star twice at the Kingdom Arena before landing a knockout blow in the second round of the contest.
Friday’s fight was Ngannou’s second boxing bout after he made his debut in the sport against Tyson Fury in October 2023.
The 37-year-old MMA star has now lost two boxing fights and has hinted he is not giving up on the sport.
Ngannou wrote on Instagram: “Sorry guys, I let you all down. Today was a bad day in the office but tomorrow will be another day. Thank you all for the love.”
Ngannou will now shift his attention to his debut fight in the Professional Fighters League against the franchise heavyweight champion, Renan Ferreira.
For the boxing world, the next big fight will be the undisputed heavyweight title fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury on May 18.
