Newcastle United have submitted a formal offer worth €80 million to RB Leipzig for Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko, Afrosport reports.
The Magpies’ proposal includes an upfront fee of €75m, with an additional €5m in potential add-ons—effectively meeting Leipzig’s valuation of the 23-year-old forward.
Newcastle have intensified their pursuit for a striker due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of Alexander Isak. The Tyneside outfit on Friday rejected a bid reportedly worth £110m from Liverpool for the Swedish striker.
They have presented their project to Sesko and are hoping an agreement is reached in the coming days. The Magpies, however, face stern competition from Manchester United, who are also pursing the Slovenia international this window.
Sesko has reportedly informed his Leipzig teammates of his intention to leave this summer and has been omitted from the squad to face Atalanta in Saturday’s pre-season friendly.
The striker joined Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023 and has since scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for the Bundesliga side. He was in fine form last season, finding the net 21 times in all competitions.
In addition to Sesko, Newcastle are also monitoring Brentford forward Yoane Wissa. The DR Congo international was left out of the Bees’ friendly against QPR on Saturday.
Brentford rejected an initial £25 million bid from Newcastle, but Wissa is understood to be keen on a move away from the Gtech Community Stadium this summer.
