Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey will miss the remainder of the season after re-injuring his sprained right finger, the team announced on Wednesday.
Maxey, who was closing in on a return to the team before the end of the regular season, has been shut down after an MRI confirmed the recent damage to the finger.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, revealed that the 24-year-old is expected to make a full recovery ahead of next season.
Despite playing 52 games this season, Maxey last featured for the Sixers in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on 3 March.
The fifth-year guard, who made his first All-Star appearance and was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2023-24, has posted a career-high 26.3 points per game this season to go with 3.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.8 steals.
The 76ers (23-56) will also be without the duo of Joel Embiid and Paul George for the rest of the season, with the team on a 12-game losing streak.
