NBA: Mavericks rout Magic in Dallas as Hawks beat Pelicans to end four-game skid

Luka Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks with 32 points in their 108-85 blowout win over the Orlando Magic on Sunday night to improve to 4-2 for the season.

The Slovenian grabbed nine rebounds and dished out seven assists as Dallas led by as much as 25 points heading into the halftime break, restricting the Magic to only 18 points in the second quarter.

Daniel Gafford tallied 18 points and eight rebounds; Kyrie Irving finished with 17 points; and Dereck Lively II added 11 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for the Mavericks, who recorded their third win in four games.

Orlando, which was without former No. 1 Draft pick Paolo Banchero, were very limited in scoring as Franz Wagner finished with a team-high 13 points, while Jett Howard scored 12 points.

Mavericks (4-2) are up against the Indiana Pacers (2-4) next on Monday night at the American Airlines Centre, while the Magic (3-4) head to Oklahoma to take on the West-leading Thunder (6-0) at Paycom Centre.

Elsewhere, the Atlanta Hawks beat the Pelicans 126-111 in New Orleans thanks to a 29-point performance from Jalen Johnson and Trae Young’s 23-point and 12-assist double-double performance.

Atlanta benefitted from a solid second half performance, winning the third and fourth quarters with a combined 68-52 score, and Johnson added nine rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks.

Dyson Daniels finished with 16 points for the Hawks, adding to 14 points from Larry Nance Jr. Meanwhile, Brandon Ingram led New Orleans with 32 points in the absence of Zion Williamson, with Jordan Hawkins finishing with 19 points.

Up next for the Hawks (3-4) are the Boston Celtics (6-1), who head to the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Monday night, while the Pelicans (3-4) are at home at the Smoothie King Centre against the Portland Trail Blazers (2-5).
