Athletic Club forward Nico Williams will play no part in Spain’s Nations League matches this month after withdrawing from the squad due to injury, Afrosport reports.
The 22-year-old, who was initially named in La Roja’s 25-man squad to face Denmark and Serbia, has been replaced by Real Sociedad’s Sergio Gomez.

Williams, who is of Ghanaian descent, showed up at the team’s training base in Las Rozas, but he was eventually released “following talks between his club’s medical team and the national team,” said a Spanish Football Federation statement.
Meanwhile, Gomez, who was part of Spain’s gold medal-winning team at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will be hoping to make his senior team debut in the coming days.
Luis de la Fuente’s men will host Denmark at the Estadio Nueva Condomina in Murcia on Saturday, October 12, before welcoming Serbia to the Estadio Nuevo Arcángel in Cordoba three days later.
