Ekiti State government has recalled the General Manager of Ekiti State Sports Council, Adekunle Adeyemi from the ongoing National Youth Games over the poor kitting of their representatives in Asaba, Delta State.
The government frowned at the shabby appearance of the state’s contingent during the opening ceremony’s march parade on Saturday and has summoned Mr. Adeyemi immediately to Ado-Ekiti to explain the circumstances around the event.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information in Ekiti State, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun described the athletes’ kits as unfortunate with the government accepting to take full responsibility for the regrettable incident.

The attention of the top government officials was drawn to the shabby appearance of the youth athletes after pictures of their opening ceremony parade circulated online.
In Mr. Adeyemi’s absence , the Ekiti State government has directed the most senior official in Asaba to head Ekiti’s State delegation and oversee the athletes’ welfare and wellbeing for the remainder of the national sports championships.
