There are growing reports that Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, is nearing an exit from Napoli, as he was left out of the match-day squad in their 3-0 pre-season friendly win over Mantova on Saturday.
The reigning Africa Player of the Year resumed pre-season training with the rest of the squad on July 9th despite reports he would leave in the ongoing transfer window.
It was reported that the 2022 Serie A top scorer had muscular issues earlier in the week but was expected to be part of the match day squad of Antonio Conte’s second game in charge.
He was however seen in the stands as there are suggestions that a move to French giants, Paris Saint-Germain, is imminent.
It is believed that the Ligue 1 champions are poised to sign Osimhen as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who has joined Real Madrid and is in negotiations with Napoli for their prized asset.
Multiple reports claim that Osimhen’s entourage has agreed on personal terms with PSG, but it seems likely the French club would ask Napoli to reduce their €130 million asking price for the Nigeria international.
It is understood that the sale of Osimhen will allow Conte to reunite with Chelsea forward, Romelu Lukaku, who has been linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge.
Osimhen made history with Napoli during the 2022-23 season where his 26 goals earned him the capocannoniere crown as the highest goal scorer, and helped the Partenopei end their 33-year Scudetto drought.
